The Five Parts and Functions of Animal Cells
January 09, 2020
Animal cells are the most basic form of life and responsible for the growth and development of all life forms, but that differs based upon which species we choose to look at and try to understand. Understanding the functions of animal cells is where we figure out what makes life work and function at all, and there are differences in all species of life that allow each to function and continue that are unique to every life form.
In animal cells, there are 5 different parts of the cell, each with its’ own function. First, there is the nucleus, which contains the genetic material that controls the cells. There is the cell membrane, which controls what comes and goes in and out of the cell. There is the Cytoplasm, whereby enzymes control the chemical processes within the cell. Lastly, there are the ribosomes by which protein synthesis happens.
All of these parts are necessary for the survival, growth, and sustainability of the animal cell, thereby life of all animals. Each function is crucial to the whole, and cells are the building blocks
of life, so without any of these functions, there would be no cells or life at all. Studying the functions of animal cells helps us understand how organisms function.
